Snow!

We had our first snow in The Springs a couple of weeks ago. Here are a few shots from the balcony ...

What Happened To Fortune Cookies?

Seriously? What the crap??
Someone please tell me when the fortune cookie company ran out of fortunes and starting using lame pick up lines.

A Peruvian Wedding

Lee and I had the privilege of joining Morgan Lynn Photography for the wedding of Ivonne and Alfonso in Lima, Peru. What an experience! Morgan is awesome. Ivonne and Alfonso and all of their friends are awesome. I can't express enough how kind and welcoming everyone was to Lee and I.

Working alongside Morgan as her assistant and second shooter was a great time - and a great experience shooting a wedding unlike any I had seen before. Below are a few of my shots from the night. Be sure to check out the entire wedding week of Ivonne and Alfonso, much of which Lee and I were unable to attend - and the rest of the fabulous work shot by Morgan Lynn Photography.

Are we there yet????

Lee and I (isn't this is how I always start out a post?) attempted to fly standby to Lima, Peru recently. Let me tell you, I have seriously spent more time in an airport than I have my home this month. So, our flight to Atlanta, we BARELY made. ATL is the devil, by the way. I always have to fly in there to get anywhere and I always get stuck there. The Atlanta Peeport, as I call it because, it smells like, well, I think you get my point. Anyhoo - poor Lee had to ride in the cockpit all the way there, but his sacrifice allowed a lady the chance to get back home because she would've been bumped had he opted for a seat:)
So we get to A town around 11 AM and our flight to Lima isn't until 5:50PM - 25 overbooked, by the way. Needless to say, we were bumped, along with 15 other passengers. So we get listed on a flight into Santiago, Chile. at 10:50PM we roll out of ATL ...

Excuse me mr. pilot ... do you have room for us????

We arrive in Chile at 7:30ish. And the Lan Peru employees (who don't speak any English, other than "no room") were a joy. Well, despite their "no room" theory, by the grace of God, there was room. There's a lesson to be learned here ... don't take no for an answer ... especially if it's in Spanish. So we made the flight into Peru after purchasing stand by tickets ... arriving in Lima just before noon.

After we survived the taxi ride (almost as bad as Jamaica, but not quite) ...

GORGEOUS!

Our hotel ... Hotel El Ducado.
I wouldn't stay anywhere with the name "Hostel" in it ... I watch a lot of movies.

More to come ... including the reason why we were there ...

Snoot Test

Lee and I took a few minutes to test out what will soon be a snoot, but I haven't yet had time to complete it. I would've liked it better if I could've raised the flash and tilted it down, but the carton wouldn't stay on without the velcro. I had just ripped open the bottom of a milk carton, threw it on the flash and here are the results ...

Here is one done with a 1 second exposure ...

Colorado Strobists - September Meetup

We had our first strobist meetup in Evergreen at Elk Meadows Park. I was so happy to meet such a great group of people and to be around their enthusiasm is exactly what I needed. Here is a shot of us using sun and although you can't see it, there's a snooted flash giving Sarah, our model, a nice hair light.

The shot of Lee above is when we were messing around before the group made it there. I was using a speedlight to make a halo on the tree to separate lee from the background.

Above and below are shots of Vincent working with Sarah.

Beautiful Sarah. Umbrella light to the right. Sun to the back left. Love her shoes!

Below: umbrella light to the left.

Sarah did such a fantastic job modeling. She is too cute. I seriously couldn't choose. I have like 60 great shots of her.
And Lee was such a big help holding flashes and snoots and stuff. We had a good time. Can't wait till October's meeting in downtown Denver!
