Shooting Lee

Lee and I had a fun day after work yesterday. We grabbed some KFC and went to an area by the airport to have a car picnic. Lee agreed to pose for me so I could get some practice in with my flash. Then we started goofing off and he even snapped a few of me.

Apple Juice and Onions

The other day, I had to practice shooting something transparent and play around with hard shadows, so I found some month old apple juice and an onion to be my models. The apple juice, of course, served as my transparent item. With the onion, I had to feather the background, which is why I posted 2 very similar shots. One has a darker line across the background. Not bad for a piece of posterboard and a couple of clamp lights from home depot.

Lear Bounces Back

Lear has had a rough couple of weeks, but he's finally getting back to normal. He went to the vet to get his teeth cleaned for the first time (bad mommy) and we found out he had an abscessed tooth and had to get it pulled. On top of that, he had blood taken and was given his shots. When he came home, he barely slept for 2 days. He also was so stressed out from the visit (he hates going to the vet. imagine pumping the gas into his carrying cage because he was too "aggressive" to get the mask on his face), that he chewed out a huge spot of hair on his belly and licked the skin raw. Lee made him a tshirt, but it was still difficult trying to keep him from licking off the ointment and agitating it further. We tried the elizabethan collar, but that was even more traumatic. It's finally started to heal. And through all of that, he never once lost his appetite (big shock). I can't wait to start trying to brush his teeth this week. Here are a couple of similar shots of him resting ... finally. I couldn't decide between color and b/w, so i posted them both.

Bowling

After we took a day off to recover from the altitude sickness, Elliott, Kinsey, Lee and I went bowling. Here's a shot of Kinsey watching Elliott and one of Lee throwing the ball. Kinsey kicked everyone's butt.

Pikes Peak

Elliott and Kinsey came to visit us from Arkansas, so we decided to take a trip up to Pikes Peak. The drive was gorgeous until about half way up where Elliott and I started feeling the altitude sickness coming on. Fortunately I wasn't as bad as Elliott, who we ended up taking to the ER that night:(

Everyone was all smiles at Tim and Sam's reception, which was held at Reflections Bay Golf Course on Lake Las Vegas. There was much dancing and laughing up till the very end - and they were literally the last ones to leave. What a beautiful night.

Sam & Tim

Sam & Tim were married at Chapel Fiorenza at Lake Las Vegas on Friday, June 22nd and I was lucky enough to be part of their special day. Here are a few shots of Sam getting ready. The chapel came with a photographer, so I wasn't allowed to shoot the ceremony, but I got plenty of shots before and after. I'll post some reception shots later.
